Why We DON'T Like to Double Cleanse | BodyCo Skin

I know the trend is to double cleanse, but that doesn't mean it's a fad you should follow!

'You CAN over clean the skin!'

Why we believe double cleansing is bad

Yes, we want you to be washing your face twice daily (once in the morning, and once at night), with luke warm water & a gentle cleanser .

If you are doing this twice in a row, you actually start to strip the skin of its natural oils and leaves the skin exposed to pathogens which results in breakouts! You are essentially leaving the skin unprotected (definitely not what you want)!

How can the skin be 'too clean'?

When the skin is stripped from its natural oils, it dries out the lower layers of the dermis, which means the epidermis (visible layer of the skin) starts to over compensate by producing more sebum (oil), which can cause the skin to breakout.

There has also been a rise in clients with skin sensitivity, due to double cleansing. That is because the skin is left unprotected and can become easily damaged by pollution, UV rays and other environmental factors.

What about when you wear make up?

If you find that you 'need' to double cleanse because you're wearing make-up, choose an oil based make up remover (no, micellar water is not an adequate make-up remover), and then cleanse your skin ONCE.

For healthy, glowing skin, you need to maintain a strong skin barrier.
