Acai Bowl - Skin Benefits and Recipe

As you probably already know, BodyCo is focused on the ingredients we use in our products.

I am dedicated to having you take care of your skin, and understanding what you are putting on your face. After all, the skin is our largest organ! #skingredients

The way I look at it, when I am sourcing ingredients, if it doesn't come from something I can eat, then I don't want to put it on my face. (Having said that, please do NOT eat your skin care).

I believe in quality. I believe in simplicity. 

 

I believe that you don't NEED to have a 4, 5, 6 step skin care routine morning AND night. All BodyCo products are made with QUALITY ingredients that do the work for you. Simple. Effective.

Being so passionate about skin care, in particular the ingredients that are used in our products, I am also very aware of what I am eating and how foods can impact the skin ('skinpact') both negatively and positively. 

Of course, I still indulge, in particularly in coffee and a glass or two of wine, however, I try to make sure that every day I am fuelling my body with 'skinfoods'.

So, I thought I would give you my recipe for my Acai Bowl, as well as a brief explanation about the skin benefits ('skinefits') of the ingredients. 

INGREDIENTS

  • Acai Puree (found in the freezer section at your local supermarket- I use this as it is the most affordable option)
  • Banana
  • Mango (I prefer frozen, but you can use fresh)
  • Mixed Berries (again, frozen is my preferred)
  • Coconut Water
  • Coconut, Shredded (for topping)
  • Chia Seeds (topping)
  • Dark Chocolate Chips (topping)

ACAI BERRY

Known as the 'Warrior in the Anti-Aging War', how could I not?

It is rich in antioxidants and loaded with so much nutrients to keep the skin happy, healthy and vibrant

BANANA

Weird fact - banana peels are full of antioxidants and vitamin C and can be used as a mask to hydrate the skin.

BUT I don't use the peel in the smoothie- but banana's have many health benefits. such as; help to create natural energy, high in potassium, helps with brain power, rich in iron and can help to increase happiness!

MANGO

Holy moly mangoes have lots of skinefits!

  2. Improves skin tone
  3. Promotes healthy skin
  4. Prevents acne breakouts
  5. Soothes the skin
  6. Boosts immune system
  7. Promotes collagen production
  8. Brightens the skin
  9. Reduces sun damage
  10. Softens the skin

MIXED BERRIES

Berries are LOADED with antioxidants, making them a great protector against free radicals!

They also help to fight inflammation and are overall great for your skin! They can help to reduce wrinkles and other signs of ageing related to sun damage. 

COCONUT WATER & SHREDDED COCONUT 

I LOVE coconut water as it hydrates like no other (that's why we use it)! It can also help with skin inflammation ('skinflammation') and can help to control oily skin. 

CHIA SEEDS

Loaded with antioxidants and omega -3 fatty acids make this ingredient one of the best for fighting the signs of ageing. It helps with keeping the skin radiant and healthy. 

DARK CHOCOLATE

Okay, I looooove my chocolate, I won't lie. However, I do make an effort to limit my daily intake and stick to dark chocolate as much as I can! 

Did you know, that the higher the percentage of cacao in chocolate also means the more antioxidants it contains? It can help to boost collagen and protect the skin from rapid ageing.

Simply put the ingredients into a blender and blend. Serve with the toppings I mentioned, or make up your own!
