It seems that every night, you vow to yourself that no matter what, you will be ready to get up at 6am and get a head start on your day. Yet 6am rolls around and you realise you were kidding yourself and just go back to sleep.
Here are five tips on how to successfully wake up earlier,
- Put your alarm on the other side of the room
This way, you need to actually get out of bed in order to turn off that annoying sound. Getting up is the hardest thing.
- Make a morning routine
Getting up a little earlier could give you a chance to do your hair nicely, go for a run or maybe spend a few minutes with your family. This is also the perfect time for you to squeeze in a little meditation so you're ready for whatever the day throws at you.
3. Be excited
No one ever wakes up early because they feel like ‘they have to’. If you get yourself into the mindset that you're excited about whatever you have to do that day, you will find it so much easier to just jump out of bed and get the ball rolling. Because you ‘want to’.
4. Never, ever, ever hit the snooze button.
Just do. not. do. it. Once you have been woken up, falling asleep again for five more minutes will only make you feel a hundred times worse. It will also put you in the mind set that whatever you were going to get up early to do really isn't that important.
5. Wake up at the same time every day.
Yes, even on weekends. If you don’t, your body clock will not be impressed with you and will only make Monday morning that much worse. Monday’s are already hard enough.
It may be hard at the start, but a habit only takes 21 days to make, then, you will be waking up at 6am. Easily.
